This was one of the most disappointing finals I've ever seen.
First of all, too much Protoss for my liking (not only in this game, but also throughout many top-level tournaments I feel Protoss has been over-represented lately. Correct me if I'm wrong).
Secondly, not a single game in this series even came close to a macro game.
Having said that, congrats to the winner and thanks to Artosis and Apollo for casting solid as always.

It's $100,000 winner takes all. Would you take the chance on a long macro game? (Specially in PvP)
@ Zolphus: The fact that playing a macro game in PvP is considered 'taking a chance' actually proves my point. Starcraft has a lot more to offer than short games like these where build orders and micro are the deciding factors.

I agree with Syoss.

Pretty short games but I am glad sOs won.

So many tears on the boards...hero should've scouted. All he had to do was watch vods of Blizzcon and he would've known stuff like this was coming. Sos knew hero doesn't scout and took advantage.

"All SOS had to do is watch some VODS" What do you think he does every second of every day he is playing starcraft... but yes he should of scouted! SOS deserved to win but I wish Hero had won. Hero seems cool and loves it more. Sos gives me this creepy vibe like he masturbates over dead hamsters...
@Syoss Oh for sure Starcraft has a lot more to offer, but in this match situation of PvP for a winner takes all competition, I don't think they really cared what fans wanted to see.

Again and again and again... Protoss...
Balance?

Aren't all-ins and cheese supposed to be the risky strategy? And now it's the more secure route people go down when they don't want to take any chances?
Wow, a Protoss wins the final series? Talk about serious OP!

@ Syoss: "Taking a chance" here doesn't mean PvP is an event of chance, Zolphus, I think, meant that when it's about 100k$ and you've cheesed your way into an advantage both in wins and in mentality, you can do the unpredicted and re-cheese your next game to seal the deal as it would take not only a great mental effort to maintain solid plays for the next games but herO would also have to overcome a 2 win disadvantage.
Having said that I agree with all the rest, Protoss has been my favourite race ever since sc1 and in 2 it's no different(though I'm not a big fan of colossi :P), but yeah, so much P is really unhealthy for the game, though I don't think it's a matter of balance but player skill is also a factor and I feel like the amount of protoss is also a factor of the lack of exceptional Terran and Zerg players.
Polt for example was very close to winning both IEM cologne and came up to the semifinals in Katowice and his TvP games were really close, it could easily have been a T victory on both events. (I've recently returned to SC2 and my perception is of course limited)
Back from sidetracking, the finals were indeed really lackluster and I believe the second game kinda sealed the deal, herO would be unable to go for a macro game after getting beaten by the same thing twice in a row, he'd need to do something similar to get back on track...
At least the event had other really good matches so it's not that bad...

I thought it was a great series. The game was created so you can attack fast and that is what they were doing. At times they both failed to secure themselves properly against a threat they didn't explore.
I am confident that players will adapt and develop new stratagems and improve their level of play for years to come.
It only turns into a macro game if they can't defeat each other early or if they are both playing greedy or on big maps. Sos proved to be a ferocious and superior player and he didn't go half arsed with his rushes, building two gateways unlike Hero who only made one and failed badly. Hero won one game because Sos didn't make an observer or cannon on his ramp - a big blunder.
If Hero knows its possible to win with a two gateway rush, why does he not make sure to defend against it?

All I can hear are tears hitting the keyboard. Short games are part of Starcraft as well. It's a strategy game and the one who uses all strategies best wins.
It was a mirror match with zero advantage to either player. How can you complain? I played NR20 BGH too but that's not what this game is.

@Deltafire: "It's a strategy game and the one who uses all strategies best wins"
I would agreee, if we had seen more than 2 strategies. This finals was nothing more than a coin flip.
Literally, they may as well just have flipped a coin in a best of 7 for 100k.
There have been plenty of Protoss mirror matches that have gone in to macro. Immortal/Archon is typically the late game composition of those games, and still require intense micro and decision making up to the very last minute.
These two finalists just didnt want to spend 4 hours of their last morning in Katowice taking risks, so they spent under an hour doing it instead. I understand the 100k on the line, but sOs had just won a 100k tourney, if anything, Hero should have been the one cheesing every game if you want to go down that route.

haters are gonna hate - but damn those mind games, the precision and skill by both of these top top top tier players - PVP - what an intense matchup! good times!

sOs looks like a creepy pedophile. I'm sad Hero lost.

sOs is a pedophile who masturbates over dead hamsters?!
What tha fucking fuck guys?!!
I'm not the type to get offended, but that was just extremely ugly and uncalled for, and just unnecessarily hurtful. Is this 4Chan or what? Do peoples feelings matter?

At the end of the day if i acted like someone who masturbated over dead hamsters. I'd want some one to tell me. I'm only trying to help here. Do you think i should try sending him letter too?
