It's what happens when you stop being creative and versatile and start becoming predictable with the same early game proxy nonsense every time. A deserved loss.

I'm a big fan, but I have to agree.

#1 no way! he was rolling people with that strat. click on maru, and look at his game history... SOS is just maru's kryptonite!

No matter how much he rolls with that strat, the fact is someone (doesn't have to be sOs) will eventually counter it. Listen to his post-game interview after playing Neeb. He said he proxies a lot in PvTs because he knows it would just work. In other words, he was getting a little too comfortable with it and ultimately paid the price.

I'm actually glad to see it getting countered. It was an innovative and interesting strat when it first appeared, but now it was just a given that like 3/4 matches would be a proxy.

#4 still, you gotta admit, it's SOS who has been beating Maru. Kryptonite.

Nah, he's not Maru's kryptonite. Their game history here on sc2casts.com is very limited.
Lookup their actual head-to-head record on aligulac. It's much closer than you think. Basically about as close as against other protosses (zest, stats, trap, etc)
"Maru is 14–16 (46.67%) in games and 6–4 (60.00%) in matches against sOs."

Eh. It is a team game. SOS gets more practice against Maru than any other Protoss. Not surprising he can get an edge on him. I'm not sure I'd call it Maru being lazy though. You place your bets on what you think will give you the win. Why would he not place his bets on the strats which won him 3 GSL's and dominating Korea for the entire year? Yeah, okay, he may be rethinking his approach after this series, but lazy? Not really.

"Why would he not place his bets on the strats which won him 3 GSL's and dominating Korea for the entire year?"
Maybe because he tried those strats already in the Super tournament and found out it didn't work against Sos?
Nothing lasts forever. If not Sos, someone else would've countered it. Actually, Stats already did earlier in the Gsl vs the World series. And yet, he still insists on using it (even though he also says he can still win long drawn-out games).
So using this strat (which he might've even created with SOS' help) *against* SOS over and over when it clearly didn't work before... seems a little bizarre to put it mildly.
Anyway, this was a good loss, and hopefully a good learning experience.

Wow. Amazing play by sOs, the way he read Maru and responded to everything made it look like he had map hacks on

Honestly it was really fun to see SoS counter the proxy Terra meta. I enjoyed the series because of his problem solving and execution.
