@ #1 Do you mean should he not have in the first place? No; an expansion is the right choice for a protoss facing a 1-1-1 of any variety. The income and 2nd base are needed to guarantee a victory once the attack has been held off. Otherwise you're fighting from even or behind (unless the terran did a massive scv pull), especially with a hellion drop scenario because you are guaranteed to lose probes.

I think Master lost due to his delay of colossi, notably getting the range upgrade before a colossus. They're vital in chewing up the marine numbers that are so scary in a 1-1-1.
