@mikedrazen - Gender is a complicated thing, much like sexual preference. Just because someone is male doesn't necessarily mean they're attracted to women. Just because someone is born with the reproductive physiology of a male doesn't mean they *feel* that they're male. And it's polite to use the pronoun that a person feels better represents their self-identified gender.
