As for the complaints about Koreans 'representing America' they do not... nor do they claim to...
When was the last time an American won the New York Marathon? Or the Tennis U.S Open? Some countries are just better than others in certain competitive arenas...this is does not mean they should be excluded from competitions...the host country should embrace them in the attempt to learn and improve.



I am a Zerg......but that was a well played game by Hero. Very well played.

I am a world traveler and self proclaimed multiculturalist. But WCS America should not be billed as one of several geographically defined tournaments leading to a world tournament and have competitors from outside the defined geographical regions competing within that region. If you are going to market based on nationalism (which is pervasive -- Koreans vs "foreigners") then don't expect me to buy in to the idea that a Korean represents my country or region. I love hero. He is one of my favorite SC2 players. But why is he "representing" the Americas?



@Loukas - Hero plays for an American team, and lives mostly in the US. So I really don't get the problem. Also, whatever the casters say, it is not exactly a 'regional tournament'. It is a global tournament, and players are free to participate in whatever division they wish. As for 'don't expect me to buy in to the idea that a Korean represents my country or region', that is pretty rich for a country almost entirely made up of immigrants. If I were from the Americas, I would be proud to have Hero representing me (I get MVP instead, so equally good).



@AxiomBlurr this is the Olympics of the SC2 scene. That would be like America hiring the Chinese ping pong team to represent us in the Olympics. Korea should not represent our region.



@lonedonkey - If this is a global tournament where players are free to participate in any division, then why even advertise these preliminary qualifier tournaments by geographic region?

Go back far enough in time and everyone's ancestors were immigrants. 2 years for some, 200 years for others, 500 years? Where would you draw the line?

And as for pride of the idea of someone representing my region? If this is a global tournament where anyone can participate in any division, then there really isn't any regional identity that is being represented.
