In my opinion the Colossus is a unit that is too much of an hard counter.
Without Vikings/Corrupter no other unit stands a chance against this powerful Unit. In Combination with Stalker/Phoenix/Sentrys it is very hard, then if your 12 Vikings kill all the Colossi there might be too much Warpgateunits to deal with...
Marines can overhelm Roaches, they can even be microed against Banelings. Zerglings can surround Hellions, Hydras in big numbers slash through Siege-Tanks, but which unit except Air/Air is only a bit useful against those damn Colossi?
Please tell me, I dont know and would be curious what other players think.
I know for sure: Banelings/Sieged Tanks are not so bad...
but Banelings must be dropped ;)
