I gave an upvote but I can see why some people would downvote... they didn't play Code S quality.
Most Code S players usually have a strong team behind them on top of having coaches that research virtually every aspect possible going into these games.
And let me tell you, a lot of pro's that were expected to be in Code S this year and didn't make it, played worse than some of these players in some of these matches.
Considering that most of these players don't have a top-tier coach and/or team with them and still getting close to the Code S players is in itself very commendable.
Overall I really enjoyed IEM Katowice with the exception of a spoiler here and there made by the casters due to messed up youtube upload times.
Great matches played by great players.

great comment #2, but I have to agree with #1 too, not from a macro perspective, but from micro. Code S players seem to be quicker and with better micro. Not saying Polt's wasn't great, but it was demi-godlike.
Great outcome of course, death to the swarm and all.

Honestly? I'm a bit sick of speculating roach/ravager v M&M for 20 games in a row. This tourney was not a good spectator sport at all imo.

agreed i.e the amount of times that snute corrosive biled his own ravagers...
I think you guys are taking things too lightly here. Yeah snute corrosive biled his own ravagers a couple of times, but please consider the following as well:
CJ_Hero Cancelled his own warp ins by accident by moving his warp prisms too soon (That were in no danger of dying from anything during the warp ins)
TY placing liberators right on top of sporetowers.
Dark or Soo (Forgot whom) leaving lurkers to defend an expansion for themselves without backup.
Classic (or was it stats?) trying to take an immortal/archon/zealot fight into 14 stacked up lurkers backed up with other forces, losing 100 or so army supply taking down only 20 or so with him. This wasn't a forced fight either, he didn't have to defend a nexus, he just wanted to push hard in enemy base.
These are events happening in the last couple of months in both Proleague and Code A.
These things happen to the best players. I see your points and these mistakes are not things that make you a blizzcon champion. Top korean players make these mistakes less often, but they still happen. (And they get punished for it by not making it into Code S or ro16)
Everyone makes amateur mistakes with enough pressure or when they're nervous.

===== SPOILERS in Comment ======
I agree with #4 & #5 above. Roach ravager vs Terran Bio is a dumb, dumb choice. Not only is it supply inefficient, you have to have PERFECT micro just to be on par.
Corrosive bile is so easy to dodge, and the AOE is not all that big like say a baneling.
Even with Fungals added to the mix, why do top players like Snute keep on sticking to a unit composition that just doesn't work. It's simple rock, paper, scissors. Muta ling bane counters MMM. Going up against bio, at the very least add speed banes or more speedlings so the bio ball can't kite forever and you can use corrosive bile more productively. Not to mention if you play someone like Polt that loves to drop all over the place. At the very least put up much more Static D if you want to go for such a slow unit compo.
Very frustrating series to watch as a Zerg myself.
That being said, good win for Polt.

"Roach ravager vs Terran Bio is a dumb, dumb choice. Not only is it supply inefficient, you have to have PERFECT micro just to be on par."
What a load of bias. I'm holding back here as sc2casts is a friendly place, but you'd get flamed into oblivion pretty much anywhere else.
He beat Major with the same build 3 times into a 3-1 win in the ro32 and then MaSa in ro16 with the same build 3 times into a 3-1 win.
If your builds are so much better then obviously you could compete in any IEM Katovice if Snute can do it with a build that needs PERFECT micro !!!just to be on par!!!
"Corrosive Bile so easy to dodge" yet people like SpeeD (Also a terran by the way in Code S, presumably better than IEM "standards") get destroyed by Fumble into bile or ling surround into bile. And not just SpeeD. A lot of top tier korean and international Terrans get wrecked by the build snute is using.
If they can do it in major league tournaments with that build, then surely you can do it in online tournaments, regardless of whatever division you're in.
You're insulting the build, the pro players and also dare to say other builds are by definition a ton better because of the "PERFECT micro" required.
Polt was simply outclassing Snute in the multitasking department. Dark or Soo would have walked over Polt with the identical build.
ling bling muta is very good against bio heavy compositions, but most of the winning builds thus far in SSL and GSL are roach/ravager push into ultra or brood lords.
You lose harass potential, but gain a much stronger frontal push and if the enemy doesn't harass you, it's almost an auto-win build against someone equally skilled.
Boring or not as @#4 said, you should blame Blizzard for it and not the players. CJ_Hero when he killed pretty much all Terrans with an early adept rush is a more extreme example I can use here. You can say "omg so boring, all those Protoss just rushing adepts to kill Terrans in less than 4 minutes all the time!!!". But honestly, do you blame them? They play for the tournament, the cash, the results. Blame Blizzard, and be thankful they listen and nerfed Adepts.
TL;DR: Roach ravager infestor gets results in SSL and GSL. I dare you to blame a plumber for using a wrench and not using his teeth to fix your stuff. This is their work, they do what they feel most comfortable with to get the best results.

Someone open a window here, because #9 just turned the roaster up on high!
love the plumber analogy btw!
Whoa #9....that was quite a mouthful.
Are you really comparing Snute (widely considered the best foreigner right now) with Major and MaSa? No disrespect to those two, but come on meng. It's Snute.
The fact that he beats people that most observers would agree he was expected to beat, with an inferior unit composition or build order is not reflective on the strength of the unit comp or the BO, but rather on the strength of the player. So there is that.
A lot of top tier korean players get destroyed by many things (4-gateway from CJ_Hero, 3 Rax from Maru, or even just marine and mine only). That doesn't invalidate my point that Roach/Ravager is not a good counter to MMM.
"...it's almost an auto-win build against someone equally skilled"...are you kidding me? Have you not seen Polt destroy Zergs in past (perhaps even Snute or Stefano) with MMM against a slow-moving Broodlord army. There is no such thing as an "auto-win" when you are talking about Snute and Polt levels.
Many things get results in SSL, Proleague and GSL (including one-off builds made to snipe a specific build from a specific player on a specific map). So please don't use anecdotal evidence to refute an argument.
Lastly, there is no need to take my word for it....you can look up the definition of what each unit is good for:
http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Ravager (Weak against Marauder)
http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Roach_(Legacy_of_the_Void) (weak against Marauder)
Please note that I am in no way declaring Roach Ravager a rubbish build at all. Using it in a timing attack with 1 and speed can be very powerful.
However, what I am referring to is the way Snute used it (i.e. ALL GAME with a very late transition to broodlord in the end in SOME games, when he was resource constrained - i.e. kept on 3 bases because Polt kept denying the 4th).

People talk about how Snute is the best foreigner right now, that's because of his results. Notice not one single foreign Terran was in the top 8? Polt, a former gsl champ lest we forget, bullies far less competent white guys at these tournaments.
Major ran fuckng circles around Snute all game and won despite being down two bases and losing his main.
I'm not saying things are imba, the game is meant to be balanced at the absolute highest level and GSL was split almost perfectly evenly across all three races, but foreign Terrans have always been the redheaded step children of competitive Starcraft.
