I just hate watching pheonix get left in an enemy base, to die for nothing. Those pheonix won him the game (4), and they should have been treated with love and respect, not to be wantonly abandoned. It's not like he was maxed out on supply!
What should one do against mass Phoenix as Zerg? One spore/base doesn't cut it in the slightest, so I wonder whether the answer lies in static defense at all or whether Zerg has to make sure Protoss doesn't even get a larger Phoenix count up. The queen-based defense is hopeless, hydras are better at alternating between bases but squishy, and vipers are tier 3.
Oh please, tommunation. Those Phoenix were war criminals of the highest degree, responsible for more worker deaths than the ancient Pharaos.
sick ravager micro in game 4. Corrosive bile never missed.
That's true, Ragnarok was the worse player. Didn't mean to imply that there is a balance problem, he should have kept queens and ravagers together. I don't see that corrosive bile is the answer to Phoenix though.
!!!Spoilers!!!
I feel like it's a good idea to bring up the "Snute vs polt" discussion some of us had the other day. I think these last two Starleague matches really show that even the best of us make mistakes that people would call rookie or "Silver level" mistakes.
People are being too hard on snute and polt for the mistakes they made in their match. I mean if we list what went wrong here in these matches:
Ragnarok vs Patience:
Ragnarok leaving his ravagers undefended during the early push in game 4
Patience keeping the Phoenii unattended in the enemy base
Patience misrallying his stalkers towards the end, making them suicide into lurkers.
Patience blinking on top of lurkers (Which you should only do if it causes the lurkers to shoot in different directions instead of a "bottleneck". This was not the case here, even though he already won at that point)
Stats vs Byun:
Stats letting Byun set off two widow mines for a total of 8 probe kills, these were widowmines that Stats easily spotted.
Byun not burrowing widowmines behind enemy mineral line, just to let them idle there and let Stats clean it up for him.
Byun walking straight into a disruptor shot that he saw early (It wasn't a surprise flank or fog of war or something). According to the caster, it blew away about 20 army supply.
This is just a very small sample size, but these mistakes happen on the top tiers more often than I mention them. So I don't really understand why people are so critical about Snute or Polt. Even people like TY and Zest lose a medivac by positioning it above a spore or lose a mothership core to 4 unstimmed marines.
These things happen all the time, you can't view the entire area all the time and micro everything at once (At super speed, not but at the same time). Pressure is also a contributing factor which I think a lot of you that give criticism to the pros don't consider as much.
agreed xeneonic. sometimes you blow it and a friend teases you, hence my ravager sarcasm. In reality most pro players play extremely well but make mistakes as that's unavoidable. Thankful for the pro sc2 community and all the entertainment/brilliant gameplay
