I mean, I can hardly criticize his very questionable banshee plays when he just effortlessly monsterpunches his opponent to the moon afterwards anyway... ?

Maybe the idea is when you start mech, you get the solid foundation of tanks and upgrades and factories, where as adding marines later in the game is relatively easy in comparison (cheap 50 minerals at 2 times every rax).
So in mid to late game you are guaranteed the tank advantage in a marine/tank mirror.
Interesting though, I hope we see more of this.

So I think game 1 Maru just crystallized how important interference matrix is in TvT. Maru was down in supply, he made a few small mistakes, lost some units, got 0 damage in, and had a slightly smaller economy and lower tech compared to Gumiho, until the flawless interference matrix control, which won him game 1.
Game 3 was something else entirely. I have yet to see a bio mech hybrid actually work, maybe this is how terran competes in late game if you don't harass them?

Pretty sure it is a TvT only strat. Tanks/marines have always been used in TvT, so it was always a bit of a hybrid in that sense. The new part is the heavier on tanks and tank upgrades first, while adding the bio in later. It is typically the other way around... heavy bio first while slowly adding in tanks when you can.
I highly doubt we will see anything like this become meta in the other match-ups. Well, I suppose one could argue we do see it against Zerg in the form of ghosts, but that is quite different all together.
