Nope, Maru isn't unbeatable. But also, Zest isn't this good. His WCS points and GSL finishes are inflated because the GSL usuals haven't been performing or knocked out early. Other than Artosis, who is going to actually argue Zest is better than a Classic? Rogue? Even wildcards like Soo and SOS didn't make it deep.
The players who could have actually challenged Maru have already been knocked out. Except perhaps TY. So I suppose, in a way, this is the best finals we could have hoped for, as Maru said himself his TvT is a weakness and TY is the only other Terran in top form right now.

Zest in peace.

This is kind of sad. Even Maru was embarrassed at the way the first two games went that he just gifted the 4th out of pity.

Was just about to note the same thing, Matt. Zest's results have been very good but his path has been pretty easy.
Similar in a way to sOs, when he made those 2 finals. As sOs' biggest fan, it pained me to say that, but honestly I thought that sOs looked better this season than the 2 times he got to the GSL finals.
Curious to see if the Korean protoss will kind some answer to the Terran proxy strategy.

Zest is a mind-game player who excels in the mid-game when he can execute his strategies. He is very good at fake-outs and surprise all-ins. He is really good at PvP for this reason, since that match-up relies a lot on mind-games.
Maru, however, doesn't let him coast into the mid-game where Zest excels. Maru is extremely good at low-risk, high-reward early game pressure. Hellion or mine drops are a perfect example; they aren't a huge investment (you rarely lose the medivac), and sometimes you get free wins. Zest doesn't have super solid defense against this sort of play (which is one of his big weaknesses), and Maru knows that, so he does it EVERY game, and ends up getting a solid edge EVERY game.
Contrast this to a player like Stats, who is the best defensive protoss. In GSL vs the world, which happened only a month ago, Maru did almost zero early game damage, and ended up losing in the midgame 3 times.
I wouldn't say that Zest's path has been easy, he took down arguably the best protoss in the world right now in Stats. I just think that he is really good in PvP, but very weak vs Maru's play-style.
