probably one of the best series I've ever seen, that and the OGS MC series vs ThorZain...I was biting my nails all the way through the end of game 7
Great players. Intense games. Extraordinary play.
What can you ask more?
One of the most epic series.
i can only agree, MC v Thorzain and this final BO7 were the most intense and exciting series, i´ve ever seen. Thx!
that was amazing
It HAD to be Thorzain
Day 9 and Chill, the two best casters out there. That's how you yell when shit is blowing up! I'm sad Chill had to disconnect for most of the final game, but his analysis, especially in game two, was very valuable.
Starcraft 2 is really more exciting than any American Football or MMA match I love to watch. At least, TSL 3 is.
AMAZING !!!
Awesome players on top of their play, awesome commentators doing a great job, awesome food while watching it :D Thx!
amazing! really one of the best.
All ins almost every game...
wow such a enthralling series. Till the last fight of the last game u didnt knew who will take this Tournament. pure adrenalin
lol Anibal !
Yeah ! Thx for the food ! ;)
Man I couldn't hold my breath yesterday when I was watching this live. I was rooting for NaNiwa but still loved the series.
This TSL will go down in history. Thorzain is formally the stuff of legend now.
Heart attacking games... TSL provided the best games SC2 has seen, and all this for free. thx
It's series like this that make me wonder why E-sports is still not mainstream enough to get some decent attention on television in Europe and the U.S. These games are more nerve wrecking than any soccer game I ever saw...
That was just incredible. I watched this series with 4 friends, with a giant-screen-via-projector on the wall and pizza. Much more fun than any other sports game I've ever seen. So much gratitude for these two players to make our day like that!
Last game 3 barracks vs 10 gates, and terran still holds. Then people would still say Protoss OP, its hilarious.
very nice series. why did he not get high temps in game 7 is beyond me tho.
gonssal the EMPs made the huge difference.
I can't imagine the mindset that Naniwa was in at 7th Match, but its clear that he lost the match even before it began.
His opening was perfect, but he only made mistakes after that. The first attack, lack of upgrades, no charge even he had 34134132 zealots, still producing collosus even after seeing 321124 vikings.
A simple charge or a few high templars could have made a big difference.
It was an amazing series!!! :-)
I'm so sad that Naniwa completely lost his calm in game 7 and just started throwing out as many units as possible, completely forgetting those upgrades. It just didn't matter that he had the larger army, he was torn apart by Thorzains 1 1 upgrades.
I really was cheering for Naniwa, I love his playstyle in general - and the fact that he's protoss! Thorzain did play amazingly aswell though, it was well deserved that they were both in the final :-)
I have no nails anymore. They are all gone. Best series ever! Go Sweden go!
intense series, was rooting for naniwa but oh well, i guess thorzain deserves it
stupid game, i would defeat both
I watched this live and it was the most incredible series. I was betting on thorzain but when he fell behind 3-1 i was getting worried, then he staged an absolutely INSANE comeback. The game where he held off Naniwa's 4gate all-in contain was outrageous.
Is Thorzain the next Boxer? In the span of just one tournament he 2-0'd Fruitdealer, 3-0'd Tyler, beat freaking MC, absolutely MOLESTERED Kas (thanks HD) and finally staged a seemingly impossible comeback against Naniwa. I think we're going to be seeing a lot more him in the future...
lol @ "reverse comeback"
Great series, tournament, casting, production value, etc. Thanks to all involved.
great series!
one of the greatest series of all time in SC2 history, that's for sure o.ô
Thorzain definately deserves to win this, but like everyone else, i believe naniwa just got the nerves worked up too hard in game 7.
When you get your whole army emp'd i would think it's time to pull back and just be patient.
Who am I to say though? SO EPIC
Did Chill lag out because IRC got flooded? At that point it became clear that Naniwa was raging. When that happened I began to root for Naniwa when previously I didn't have a preference, just because I didn't want there to be the opportunity for an excuse.
Obviously, a great series. Nerd chills all around.
Soooooo goooooood.
ThorZaIN is really the bomb. I'm really holding him over Jinro atm.
unbelievable. absolutely could not ask for anything better from a final series.
could not have been better. thorzain is a beast and im glad that he won!
amAAAAZzziiinnGG
Chill should have lagged out game 1 until the end ;)
I... I just came
...
So much pressure that these creative players get "stuck" like they're "do not make mistakes" "do NOT make any mistakes" "do not fight in bad position" "do no missscout"..
Last game was actually like millions of "do not" at every moment.
TSL 3 is by far the best turnement played yet.
The amount of excellent games in this turnement makes it standing out of the GSL and NASL i.e.
The players deserve the fame (and money) ;)
and all for free! I like it.
Best series I've ever seen. EVERY game was intense. Normally you would get maybe 2-3 nice games in a bo7, but not ALL 7! SOOOO GOOD!
FUCKIN' BEST SERIES EVER!!!!!
the best stream of all tournaments so far.. handling 60k viewers and not lagging.. Congratz TL.
Unbelievable level of play.
Day9's casting in the build up to and then the climactic final battle in game 7 was pinnacle also. Well done everyone.
good point by Shaft, the casting of this series was really phenomenal, especially by Day9, but I thought Chill did great too. (plus i just like Chill anyways :D)
absolutely fantastic commentry and players
absolutely fantastic commentary and players
awesome game
that is the tip top of Starcraft right there folks
I'm posting this as of Jan 12, 2014
With the current setup of this website, this series will be forever at the top of the highest rated series ever list. In fact, it has almost double the amount of upvotes compared to the second highest rated series. The reason for this is that new people come to this site, think "I wonder what the top rated series of all time is", see this series at the top of the list, watch it and then upvote it. It's a case of runaway leader. This is actually true of all of the top 5 series ever; I don't think it's really possible for any series posted now to compete. These top 5 series continually get upvotes because they are always visible. Any series that is posted now is only visible for a month, and that is not nearly enough time to gain enough upvotes to break into the top 5 ever, and it's going to get harder and harder to do so because the top 5 continually get upvoted.
You can actually easily see this happening. If you check the dates of the top 5 series, they are: 1. May 16, 2011 2. Apr 24, 2011 3. Oct 23, 2010 4. Sep 29, 2010 5. Nov 27, 2011. Nothing that has been posted in the past 2 years is represented here. The number of upvotes of these top 5 are 2904, 1683, 1327 and 1324. By far the highest rated series that I've seen in recent times was Bomber vs Scarlett at NY Battle Grounds with 952 upvotes, still quite a bit behind 5th place. It's rare for monthly highs to reach over 300. Check the numbers for yourself. I am willing to bet that the top 5 have gone up from what I posted, but the Bomber vs Scarlett series is still almost exactly the same. If you adjust for visibility, keeping in mind that the top 5 have been visible for over 2 years and the Scarlett vs Bomber series was visible for only 1 month, clearly the Scarlett vs Bomber series earned many more upvotes-per-view than any of the top 5 series. I guess that's the point of my rant: upvotes per view might be a better metric for top series than most upvotes.
Santah, trevaur here makes an excellent point. Consider a revisit to the engine for "top 5 all time" a formal feature request :)
Yea, I know :)
ew. chill.
...
This is #16 on 'top in the past 24 hours' on November 7, 2014. This series happened ~30504 hours ago.
Top in the Past 24 hours comes from series which were upvoted in the last 24 hours.
It's normal for something that's in the Top All Time chart to be frequently upvoted so long after the actual series was played out as people check out the series in the top sections quite often.
That said, this system is not perfect as #50 trevaur pointed out and I'll improve it at some point ...
Imo you should change it from top/ever to top/year
Posting this August 15, 2020, I'm going to second what trevaur said. No recent cast can manage to reach this number of votes. I was watching casts back in the beginning of SC2 (I actually miss Day9) but I had somehow missed that one, just watched it and upvoted it.
Sorting by "upvotes per view" would be a good idea.
An even easier idea: how about some middle categories between "month" and "ever"? Because right now, I can get the highest rated casts of August 2020 and late July 2020 (by clicking "month"), and the very next category gives me casts that are a decade old.
Would be nice to see the highest rated casts of the last year, or the last 2-3 years.
Right now, if I could see the highest rated casts of 2018-2019-2020 for example, I'm sure the top few would be better than this decade-old match between two Swedes. (They aren't as upvoted, because they didn't spend a decade on the top of the ranking which is a self-fulfilling situation) but they'd be better.)
... shortly after having posted the above, I realized that what I'm suggesting (which IMO is a no brainer) is pretty much already implemented and available - to premium members. Which is fair enough :)
