Game 1 was extremely abusive. I do not feel zerg is capable of fighting that many air units so early. killer tried to build every unit that shoots air and they all died instantly.
Both terran and protoss have quality units that can attack and shoot air early game for minimal cost. Zerg design is extremely lacking.
However, I feel the proper response is a little unintuitive. Instead of spending everything on defense (spores queens hydras), which are all incapable of walking across that map to attack. Zerg needs to mass lings and bust the wall while re enforcing with only lings (units that are not as cost effective to kill so easily with phoenix energy).
I'm sure everyone will disagree with me in this posts entirety since everyone seems to think their race is the weakest.
I think so too because Zerg is lacking of air defensive unit in the early game. What does Zerg have? Hydra, Queens are those fastest unit that Z can build and they are very expensive compare to marine or stalker. What else? Spore???? Yes they are strong and helpful but kinda useless in the mid and late game and nobody's gonna build massive spore that early game. I really dont know how to counter massive phoenix play. Can't even counter attack with Lings cuz Protoss only need 4-5 sentry and 3-4 cannons to defense. I guess every race has a weakness and this is Z's weakness.....
Infestor + fungal growth + Infested Terrans. Phoenixes are weak and the second they can't fly away, they're dead. Push those out sooner instead of making 5 hydras at a time against 10+ phoenixes and then maybe you've got an idea.
I understand you can't build that many, but queens are actually cheaper and better anti-air than stalkers. So try again.
And yeah. Funny thing about large groups of phoenix. They'll kill small groups of hydras. Kinda how it works.
All shut down by infestors. It's funny to hear zergs whine when they need tier 2 to counter protoss tier 2, when they tell us time and time again how we need tier 3 to counter their tier 2.
Anyone just think Hyrdas are borderline useless? Just seems like a waste of resources to tech to them.
All in all, I like the game balance, but maybe a hydra buff for a muta magic box nerf or something. Hydras are supposed to be a baseline unit, like the marine, they shouldn't be worthless.
The best protoss player in the world had massive trouble against a random Zerg player who has not won anything, ever. And people talk about zerg being too weak?
Infestors counters every single unit the Protoss has, including Phoenix.
Maybe they could buff them by changing them from being a "Light" unit to nothing, like Ghosts and Queens.
Hydras, that is.
bulk queens are the right counter for protoss air play, IMHO. they fight the air OK straight up; they fuel the zergling counter-attack which is potentially mortal, and the transfusion is great when you are fighting phoenixes instead of void rays- and any protoss air play which doesnt take the game in the first rush turns into phoenix harass.
if there is any happier sight in starcraft than watching a Giant Death Beetle chew up a colossus i don't know what it is.
dKiller's not exactly a random unknown, he's rank 179 grandmaster, above KiwiKaki and Spanishiwa, just below Lalush. And MC was pretty comfortable first and third game. First game especially was a walkover.
I agree that Infestors would have been a better response than Hydra game 1. Hydra really just get stomped by everything except toss tier 1. There's just no composition they're good against. Probably as useless as Corrupters.
Wouldn't mind trading a nerf to something else for a buff to Hydra just so I get to use them.

And game 3 - Collosus absolutely melt anything that comes near it. Splash damage, siege range and is one of the most maneuverable units in the game. Add sentry's force fields to the mix...zzzzzzzzz

Killer has not even won anything in the western scene and you expect him to overthrow the worlds best Protoss that easily?
Hydras counter all Protoss units except Colossus (tier 3) or HT's with storm (tier 3.5). But of course, if you are greedy and only have 4 hydras vs 14 phoenix they will die but that is to be expected.
dkiller was in a good position in game 3, but lost every straight up battle after dt.
first because of forcefields, later cause of unit composition and/or to less units. burried r´s into the north expansion or even speedling runby would have done much damage. or dropplay and multipronk into north expansion (with speedlings). everything better than this measly baneling drops (with no upgrades).

i think his mistake in game 3 with the baneling drop was that many banelings hit the immortals which take 10 damage per explosion. it wasnt as much the missing splash as force was suggesting.
with regards to game 3, infestors > baneling drops, and killer needed to drone harder when he had the opportunities!
