idra is one wierd cookie!
what a baby!
He left the game because he saw:
1. That DF's third was very far along.
2. He had no ability to do anything about it, since he had just started lair.
3. DF had an army advantage, so he couldn't take his own third and try to play catch-up.
The best case scenario for the game at that point is that DF didn't start his lair yet, and both were doing similar builds as in game 2, but that DF's third was almost done while Idra hadn't even started his yet - which is the whole point of the game 2 builds, to take a fast third, so if idra hadn't even started his compared to DF's finished third, meant GG. that's not even including the fact that DF had twice the army, some more drones, complete map control, and lair - as well as roach warren, evo, and spire. So I really wish that Husky revealed if Idra knew DF went lair or not.
I think Husky is a great caster, he catches a lot of the action. But he's completely clueless when it comes to the game. Which is fine, I can fill in the blanks myself. But it was pretty damn obvious Idra had no chance to win when he saw that DF had his third almost done, when he himself did not have lair started, or a third started, and no map control and a smaller army.
On another note, AMAZING SERIES! One of the best series I've seen, period! ZvZ is my favorite match-up by far, and all 3 games were just nail-biting action! Really great games, I hope both players respect each other, because they both put on a great show and I'd love to see a showmatch, or rematches in the future! I'll be PMing DF on TL ^^
Cool story bro, tell it again.
Belial: "2. He had no ability to do anything about it, since he had just started lair."
then: "Idra had no chance to win when he saw that DF had his third almost done, when he himself did not have lair started"
Idra was being a big baby. Yes, he would never have won going muta v. muta, but that doesn't mean he can't win going hydras or infestors; he'd just have to claw his way back into the game. One lucky fungal on the mutas and it's game over. What's so gay and pathetic is that he only practices doing the same exact thing over and over and over again, so just the thought of doing something different or unconventional is anathema to him. He has no heart and no brain
@Yabbadabbadoo
Idra is definitely a purist in that he feels he should play the game one way (macro) and play it well that way. I admire the guy even though he doesn't adapt his play as well as someone like Stephano. Idra's fun to watch because he's like a robot on an assembly line, doing the same thing over and over and doing it with precision and predictability. And yet he destroys so many people with his style.
he knew he was behind then saw his 3rd halfway done and he went hydras with no roach warren and no third, df had banes and was going mutas. it's a long shot winning the game from there requires mistakes from df, idra doesnt take that into consideration. never does.
