What has happened to SC2casts.com? There is like no VoDs any longer. Every day is the same.. A Proleague series, 4 GSL Season 1 VoDs and one completely random.
Where are Lone Star Clash, WCS Premier and Challenger, Acer Teamstory Cup etc.?
This website is falling apart. Under staffed, or just don't give a crap anymore? It used to be my favourite place, but now I have to find VoDs on like Twitch and YouTube.
I'm not sure if the website has to get permission to host the videos or pay for them or something, it's possibly not their fault. I do agree though, missing basically everything except proleague.
Also, Prime sux. Creator and MK are decent but almost everyone else is poo
Hosting the videos shouldn't be a problem... They're embeddable, which means rights have already been given.
@TheWhiskey - SC2Casts is posting everything available.
Most of what you mentioned is being posted in here (WCS), while VODs for Lone Star Clash and Acer Teamstory Cup are not available on YouTube and I'm avoiding posting Twitch VODs as they're not reliable for everyone.
Let me know if you know of any VODs you expected here AND available on YouTube. I'll fix that omission ASAP and post em up.
The reality is, there are almost no SC2 events happening right now, so I'm posting GSL S1 VODs to keep you guys entertained. I guess it's better than just a Proleague VOD a day and 2-3 VODs by TB a week, right?
Anyway guys, let me know in here of any VODs you thought should be on SC2Casts but are not (but don't just say the torunament's name, try and find those VODs)
Btw, Lone Star Clash will be posted in here, from Twitch, once we're done with Code S.
@santah
Thank you for taking it serious, and for a rich response. It is highly appreciated.
I know that only a few tournaments are ongoing at the moment, and I understand the idea of scheduling the VODs for more days, to guarantee new content every day.
However, I know that many visit SC2casts.com for its news value, and the above strategy will reduce the news value a lot, since most of the games will be either weeks or months old, and we would already have read about the results on Twitter, Liquipedia etc.
I know it's a really hard balance, especially due to the poor video players out there (other than YouTube), which always received bad feedback in the comments.
BUT it is a trade off I think many can live with, since it is more important to get the new content and watch the matches (for instance from last night when you were asleep) before the results are spoiled, than to have a similar number of VODs posted every day.
I know it's no easy thing to do, especially considering the bad video players, but it should be possible to extract for instance WCS Vods directly from the official WCS website - I know it's not YouTube, but I'd rather prefer a VOD from Twitch that is only a couple of days old, than a two months old VOD from YouTube.
Anyways, I hope the feedback is well received. I love SC2casts and use it every day - But back in the days I felt like I could completely rely on SC2casts to feed me with the daily SC2 matches and I could follow my favourite players... whereas now I have to, more and more, seek out the VoDs by browsing other websites, Twitch and whatnot. And that kinda defeats the purpose that I originally used SC2casts for.
I don't know how many share my views, I just know that I naturally can't "just use" SC2casts anymore, and sometimes completely avoid going here, because my hopes of finding the matches from x days ago are pretty low.
All the best - And please let me know if I can help in any way. I would love for SC2casts to become my favourite first-stop for SC2 matches and VoDs every day. :)
Take care. Regards,
Sure, thanks a ton for the constructive feedback!
You understand pretty well the challenges I'm facing, and you're right, it's a hard balance, and there is a tradeoff.
To distill your request - you want more content from Twitch (as SC2Casts is as current as possible YouTube wise).
I'll work on that, but from what I've seen so far - very few people appreciate and watch the VODs from Twitch and that's why I try to avoid them as much as possible and wait for the YouTube VODs to provide the best experience possible.
Anyway, as I said, I'll try to up my game when it comes to Twitch.
And yes - you can help if you want - just report stuff you're missing on SC2Casts (and you're watching elsewhere) so I can react and probably add it here.
Either to info@sc2casts.com or the contact form here http://sc2casts.com/contact
Cheers :)
Also, just found a big part of Lone Star Clash was uploaded on YouTube 5-6 days ago, so it'll be available here soon. My bad for missing it out for that long!
Thanks @santah - What a kickass attitude. :) I'll be looking forward to keep using the site, and will try to encourage some SC2 friends to help find missing matches.
Cheers :)
