Destiny vs IdrA

Destiny is cool to watch, and he has a fun style... but in spite of the many "cheese losses" IdrA has been exposed to, it is still incredibly difficult to beat him in a straight up game.

Idra is just such a great macro player. GG Destiny, I you'll beat him eventually.



I love destiny but with this game we can see the gap betwen him and players like Idra.

I wish destiny to play more big event or tournament. He could be one of the very top zerg.

His game vs Bomber was amazing !

Rage: He's attended several MLG's, and has gotten the snot kicked out of him every time, simply because every competetive SC player in NA has figured out his style.



poor destiny... Idra, as well as many other macro zergs like losira, always leave a single drone on gas if they ever open with gas. Most people take all drones off gas, but some leave just a single one on just in case they need to morph lair or some need for gas is imminent. In this case, Idra wanted to purely drone up, he even had a roach warren but had only a single guy on gas which meant he planned not to make any more roaches anytime soon. Meaning he was going pure eco, and a roach bust could've wrecked him.



i dont understand completely what idra was massing the lings and hiding them subsequently for.

was he trying to provoke an all in from destiny? since the frequent ling scouts from destiny seen no army except drones in idras base.

im of the opinion that the lings rushing in to kill drones would have ended the game even earlier.



Destiny is so terrible. His infestor rush is all he depends on. W/o that one unit he's so terrible. IdrA is lightyears beyond him. The reason Destiny loses in tournaments is b/c they all know hey at like 9 1/2 minutes 6 infestors are coming out, get detection and it's over.




I think IdrA's lings were an insurance policy of sorts, a potential for an all-in or counter attack or emergency defense (which seemed very uncharacteristic of IdrA to me, to have safety units like that) and when IdrA scouted the baneling nest and roach warren, he just kept them as scouty/harassy/utility lings, spammed drones and moved on to roach tech with an enormously superior economy.

Destiny's 2-base roach/infestor doesn't work because 4 gas simply can't cut it with such a heavy gas army comp -- he floats huge mineral numbers after burning all the gas. Like many top zergs are finally learning, he needs macro hatches for more larvae to burn spare minerals into lings. Ling/Roach/Infestor would have been an improvement, but he was also behind in econ quite quickly. IdrA is just a god among men.



I wonder how long it'll take for players to start abusing the infestor-timings properly. I loved the final set of PuMa vs Stephano @ IEM due to the fact that PuMa knew that Stephano played infestor-heavy, and could abuse it to the fullest extent.



I think the only reason Destiny lost is because Idra went straight mass roach and Destiny over-thought it a bit.

When you see an opponent going mass roach, the answer is really either mutas and roaches or going mass roach yourself.

you cant say Idra is 'lightyears ahead' based on this one z-z. The matchup can be so gimmicky. As we saw, Destiny was unsure if he could drone up or not and as a result, he lost..... if they played a series, im positive there would be games where idra would feel unsafe to drone up, maybe he scouts a fast evo, maybe he sees gasses, etc. in z-z, there is no way one win can serve as a marker for where players are at.



dont get me wrong, i do agree that idra is a better player. im just saying... understand the matchup

Loaded: As far as ladder-games go, Destiny has never beaten IdrA. I would assume that if there was something at stake, he would win aswell.

destiny is gimmicky and a mediocre player. skill difference between him and idea is that of a silver nub and a grandmaster.
