I'm confused by blizzard's decision to improve medivacs. I don't think anyone was concerned about their survival ability in the first place, or their ability to successfully drop somewhere due to their speed. They seemed balanced originally, so it just seems like Blizzard was like "hey, you know what would be cool? Even better medivacs!". I could totally understand giving terran a better answer to broodlord/infestor, but I really don't understand this...
I think I understand blizzard's decision, trevaur. As a medical unit, it was great, but it lacked as a dropship compared to Z & P. Z gets 100 mineral dropship + supply and P has superfast 200 min dropship. Medivacs don't have that get-in or get out ability.

I think it's a mistake - you see them nerfing hellbat supply simply because hellbat drops are WAY too good.
They had slightly faster Medivacs in WoL beta and they nerfed them for a reason. I'm confident they'll eventually make some change to afterburner.
I think what they are trying to do is give a chance to terran drop vs certain unit composition.
In WoL if Z was going for Mutalisk drops where "forbidden", even vs Broodlord/Infestor drops wheren't that good as even 10-15 cracklings plus mass spines where able to deflect drops very effectively. Vs Prottos drops wheren't as good after toss got blink/ht tech so they want to give a chance to dropship to go fast make damage and get out and not be like suicide mission.
I think that they're going to have a trade off in how the after burners are used. In my opinion they should make that ability use energy, and that would force the player to make a decision on when to use what ability.
I agree with sxcyrax. That would be a nice way to balance it, let the afterburners use energy - just like a chrono boost on a Nexus.
Because this "free" speed boost is not very balanced, in my humble opinion.
These new decals next to the Command Centers, Hatcheries and Nexus are so annoying and ugly. Take them out Blizzard....
Man! i get it now! Blinding Cloud is Zergs response for Force Shield! But instead of blocking, it inhibits their range. Where you would be up a ramp running from the enemy and would throw a few FFs to block, you could basically use the same placement but to get free blows on a pursuing enemy! im digging the possibilities too...
