Couldn't Strange have just killed an assimilator when he heard the warning? If he did hear a warning!

maybe it has to do with no one mining for a certain amount of time

An incredible series with an even more incredible ending. Painful in the end though. In these epic struggles the underdog so often loses after being on the verge of victory. Strange should have, could have... would have won it with just an extra second or two.
Credit to Polt, incredible grit to claw it back and refuse to let Strange have his way. An unforgettable series, though as we look back on it I think we'll still wonder what might have been. Had Strange won, perhaps a new star might have been born... but the world may never know.

The fact there was no timer to pressure a fight makes that draw utter shit. Blizzard needs to roll out an update so a surprise like that doesn't happen again.

the casters advise the players had a warning, it was just the spectator view we had that didn't see it

Oh well then on that note Strange should have been more desperately aggressive. Even if it was risky going to a game 6 with Polt would be risker.

What an ugly series.

Well, the tie is even more nerve-breaking if you look at the nitty gritty. If you look back you see the medivac was killed at 32:34. The game goes into tie after 33:35. Apparantly blizzard gives you a very full minute since the last kill for some new action to take place. THE THING IS, at 33:36 Strange was about to kill a marine!!! In fact, if he microed slighly differently, Strange could have shot a bit earlier when walking up the ramp and might have killed that marine a second earlier! Other scenarios: Polt could have run away, or Strange could have killed one of his own units or perhaps buildings.
Sick series indeed. But Strange deserved the win.

Thought i'd post this because alot of people seemed confused about how the tie happened.
A stalemate occurs when all players are unable to complete any of the following actions:
Generate income
Produce a unit
Construct a building (excluding Creep Tumor, Auto-Turret & Point Defense Drone)
Research an upgrade
Destroy an enemy building

Edit to above comment if no player can do any of those things for three minutes.

Right. Simply killing a unit doesn't reset the timer.
Also @darkstarlm: if Strange is that good, a star will be born no matter what. If he was supposed to beat Polt, it should be easy to beat all the other scrubs in this kind of tourney.
It was first tiem I saw him play so I really don't knwo how good he may be. But it seems to me like he meta'ed Polt to death using some of the known OP Protoss openings that have sort of phased out of meta. Since not expected, they become OP again.
